I can not in all honesty say that i have a favourite music video becuase the music video mirrors its parent music as it is such a wide and varying spectrum from the funny and entertaining to the downright weird they apeal to me in different ways so i can't chose just one here is a quick look at a few of my favorite music videos
blink 182 - the rock show
-
This video is purely for entertainment purposes it shows blink 182 embracing the punk culture by against everything and anything including the music business and music videos themselves the video shows the guys not spending the money for appropriate sets, casting, computer graphics, costume or make-up they cash in the money and do whatever they want with it which mainly evolves simply throwing it away or using it to but props for their pranks.in a way it is a very postmodern video as it is very self aware the constant looking, talking, spitting at the camera it sets out to break all the boundaries of the music video and if you don't like it then screw you.
Red Hot Chilli Peppers- Dani California
NOTE-To save me time and movement in my fingers i'm going to call them RHCP
Here RHCP are making homage to the music that inspired and help create them by going right back to the beginning and going through the ages of rock showing the various fashions, styles and attitudes that rock music has developed over the years since its humble yet colorful beginnings in the 50s with a young white boy singing like a black boy about blue shoes.the most appealing yet surprising thing about the video is that they are such great performers that they pull of the looks of the other bands and yet still manage to make it fit there song. At the end of the video the timeline catches up with RHCP and the video culminates in there very own style almost in an arrogant way as if to say "it took a while but we've finally perfected it" well i'm sure its perfectly innocent really overall the video is all round entertainment.
This is by far and away the best RAP music video ever, directed by award winning Mark Romanek it displays the gritty truth for the many people living around the streets of the New York city projects it follows JAY-Z through what were meant to assume is a normal day the whole video is shot in black and white it shows how through JAY-Z's eyes life on the streets as a young black male can have it's advantages and disadvantages referring back to the title line of the song "I've got 99 problems but the bitch aint one" it shows the culture and emotions of the people living in Brooklyn with constant close ups of people from all ages, genders and races. It challenges issues such as morality, religion, socio-economic politics, crime and even death without judging simply by showing it as a raw truth.
