cry me a river (2002)
Justin Timberlake has been since the early years of his life been an onscreen presence and has been subjected to singing songs about mickey mouse, being dressed as a 4 year old at church when your 13 and being put in a pop band with four other idiots who cant sing, dance or compose music however I think with this video he really came out in his own.this video features stunning graphics and visual effects for its time with a very matrix like flexibility and balance shown by young justin and an unhealthy obsession for one young unlucky woman and elaborate revenge schemes as justin roles up in a large black car with timberland his large black friend and proceeds to throw a rock through the window of the house in slow motion a very impressive feat if you ask me. The use of slow motion and the well used manipulation of recent technology it what gains this video the rank of 22 in channel 4's Top 100 music videos and made this song a lot more famous and prestigious than it ever would have been by itself. Justin completely reinvents himself, he sheds his past, regains his dignity and gains a reputation of a serious artist he takes a new approach and sells this new image much like co Micky Mouse Club star Christina Aguilera did with her song Dirrty.

lyrics of Battlefield
You've gone and started a war
cos you, you alone, come and drag me down
You said thats where I belong
The hypocrisy, I can see it all
The view from up here yeah
I'm gonna watch you Fall
Your wings were made without use
but thats what you are, your just another excuse
so hold your tongue
whoa oh oh oh oh
ooooooooooh ooooooooh ooooo
Stupid, bad news in the morning after
Pulling down like an AMP around my neck
wasting time, with the thoughts that slowly creep back in
and you can tip-toe all around it
live you life in just denying
I know, where this song will go
cos you, you alone, come and drag me down
You said thats where I belong
The hypocrisy, I can see it all
The view from up here yeah
I'm gonna watch you Fall
Your wings were made without use
but thats what you are, your just another excuse
so hold your tongue
whoa oh oh oh oh
ooooooooooh ooooooooh ooooo
Stupid, bad news in the morning after
Pulling down like an AMP around my neck
wasting time, with the thoughts that slowly creep back in
and you can tip-toe all around it
live you life in just denying
I know, where this song will go
3x Your wings were made without use
but thats what you are, your just another excuse
so hold your tongue
whoa oh oh oh oh
ooooooooooh ooooooooh ooooo
Your wings are made without use
You pushed me too far
You'r headlights out, come and go.

Subterranean Homesick Blues (1965)
This is arguably the first ever music video this small clip of moving images just over 2 minuets long represents the dawning of a new era the age of the music video. It was originally the opening sequence to D. A. Pennebaker's film, Dont Look Back, a documentary on Bob Dylan's 1965 tour of England.the only thing that actually appears in the whole video is Bob Dylan standing in an alley by the savoy hotel holding up a set of cards which hold the lyrics to the song which he displays one by one in time with the song it was Bob's idea and although it is an extremely simple idea an some would say lacking i effort its the way that Bob so casually tosses the cards aside as if he's not even being filmed and the the very genies of its simplicity as there doesn't actually need to be anything else in the video i think that truly is the key to this music videos success is simplicity which complements Dylan's characteristic coolness and the music itself as this song is similar to many of Dylan's other songs and would not be as famous if not for this video. It only got to 66 in channel 4's 100 greatest music videos but to number 7 on prestigious music magazine Rolling Stone's lis of 100 greatest music videos.
Stan (2000)
This little piece places 31st on channel 4's 100 greatest music videos for good reason it is a very powerful and thought inspiring video, set out a lot like the thrillers we studied last year it is psychological as it is all about an obsessive fan sending fan male to featured artist Eminem in a rap form which makes up for the verses of the song as do the lettered replies from Eminem also in rap format.the fan expresses his rage at the artist for ignoring him and voices his delusional fantasies that he and Mr. Mathers should "be together" and also styles himself to look like Eminem with shaven bleached blond hair and white vests, he does all of this in his pretty creep, damp, dark basement with lightning storms constantly raging outside which does make for some interesting watching in a silence of the lambs sort of way especially as his pregnant wife is upstairs worrying about his mental state of health as she rightly should be as in the climax of the video the ultimate fan kidnaps her, sticks her in the boot of a car and makes her commit involuntary suicide along with him.All things considered the Music Video captivates you with its dark and somewhat controversial narrative and reminds the viewer that the music industry isn't all song and dance.
