What is the purpose of the music video? to make you laugh? to make you cry? simply to entertain?
well the origin of the music video is an unexpected one as they were not designed to advertise music they were essential designed to show on T.V. programmed such as Top of the Pops when the band were incapable or simply didn't want to give a live performance.now a days bands can use music videos to spread awareness and get a foot in the door currently music videos on you tube are one of if not the most important way to target new music to people of ages this can be proved by the massive success of songs such as Gangnam style by South Korean artist PSY, in fact many artists release there albums on the internet before they're physical production. Music videos can be used to introduce bands to the publics recognition very quickly the samples are a good example of this is the Spice Girls song "Wannabe" where each member of the band is introduced in there own way and they became a musical sensation overnight.
